The PCA hosts regional women’s conferences every other year. This coming September, we will get to attend the conference together in Annapolis.  We are very excited for this opportunity to get away and learn from some of the wonderful speakers that the PCA has to offer. Registration is $75 if you register before August 17. After that, registration cost is $100. There are also pre-conference seminars (cost for pre-conference is $25).  For more information please talk to Polly Henry or Shelly Leary. You can see the City link for this event by clicking here.

What we already told you about…

Men’s Prayer Meeting

New Member Sunday

During our service on May 20 we will be welcoming new in-covenant members.  If you are able, please stay after the service for a light lunch and a time of fellowship with our new members.

Family Day of Service

On Sunday, May 20, from 12:30-2:30 Mercy Hill will be participating in the Family Day of Service once again. We will be starting our service a little later than originally announced to allow time of welcoming and fellowship after our new member service that morning. This year, Mercy Hill will be participating in trash clean up in our local community. All are welcome to join, but we ask for volunteers to sign their name and shirt size so we know how many volunteers will be participating and if shirts are available this year, how many we will need. If you have any questions please see James or Valorie Hoffman.

Pastor Mario’s Good Bye/Thank you Service

Please mark your calendars to come  on June 3rd, to have a gathering to show pastor Mario and Giovanna Freitas’ appreciation  for their fruitful work in our congregation, after the service.

Confession of Faith…

“For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”      by Pastor Mario Freitas

The conclusion of the Lord’s prayer expresses that there is no human reason for the the prayer to be answered. If the Sovereign Lord answers it, He will do so based on:

1)    His own plans, as a King – Thine is the Kingdom “This robust pronouncement asserts that God both possesses and presides over His vast kingdom. He is the sovereign king, who exercises supreme authority and unrestricted dominion over an immense empire” (Steven Lawson).

2)    His own capacity, which is infinite – and the power “The definite article defines the infinite scope of His sovereignty. He possesses not a mere portion of some power, but the power. That is to say, He has all power in heaven and earth. All that God’s supreme will chooses to do, He has the omnipotence to execute it fully.” (Steven Lawson)

3)    His own glory – and the glory “We find Christ referencing ascribed glory. In direct response to His vast sovereignty and unlimited power, all glory must be rendered to Him.” (Steven Lawson)

Finally, the The Heidelberg Catechism states:

Q. What does your conclusion to this prayer mean?

A. For the kingdom and the power and the glory are yours forever” means: We have made all these petitions of you because, as our all powerful king, you are both willing and able to give us all that is good; and because your holy name, and not we ourselves, should receive all the praise, forever.

Q. What does that little word “Amen” express?

A. “Amen” means: This shall truly and surely be! It is even more sure that God listens to my prayer than that I really desire what I pray for.
